there was a time when this was all people did sing
favourite of his parents, topper of his community
he shone like bright stars in every activity
there were things others considered brain storming
but for him they needed a flick of thinking
all said, he is updated like computer
he was in his arena, an unbeatable gladiator
his friends considered him somebody respectful
he had the capabilities to be successful
motivated by all, he felt king of his world
but that couldn't have quenched his thirst
being, inquisitive since times immemorial, he had a wish
and thus he sowed in his mind, a seed to be a scientist
nourishing this seed for two years with hard work and regularity
he landed himself on nations best- IIT
for him this was a leap in the new world
like a spaceship exploring out in realms unhurled
innumerous portals around, open sky, infinity to fly
his wings fluttered to give it a try
unique though he was, but not apparantly different
thus he got lost like a fish in a sea current
his fellow mates were busy mugging points and grades
but he felt the silly marks were not his bait
he was a perfectionist, to excel was his trade
he wanted to gain knowledge not for grades
but alas iit system doesnt work like that
year by year, his average fell flat
he was there beacause he was the top brass
but now all passed him by like useless grass
once admired, he became an issue of serious discussion
for his parents he was not more than a source of tension
he was true to his knowledge, but of no use
all his achievements with no grades were now considered mere excuse
was it justified for him to have such a fate
just because he hadn't been tagged with a good cgpa
the boy in his calibre was as good as einstein
but unable to tolerate the neglect he ended him self down the line

It seems so right that even at IIT things are not what we suppose them to be when we've just heard of them . You can neither be a top class scientist here and neither excel vocationally as time's needed to maintain Cgpa. Its hardly a month but I think it's how things have been going since School and that's how the education system in India is. The guy in the poem can be related to most of the guys who come in IIT though during the course of four years we have to enter in a compromise somewhere either with what we want to do or where good CG will take us. You're right in a way that support of family is needed for doing things and even I dont know how one can do about it? But I think in the end you've to make a strong decision on how individually you wanna make a way.
